| Nylon - | synthetic fiber resistant to fungus and most acids, with excellent tensile strength and abrasion resistance. | The function of the finish is to permit easier handling of the material (reduce fray), and improve knot retention. | ||
| Dacron - | has all of nylon characteristics, as well as better acid resistance, less elongation and less susceptibility to discoloration. | A - | Non-Waxed-Untreated | |
| Linen- | Available in cord only, has less stretch than nylon and Dacron and is excellent or serving heavy cable and ropes. Also used for lacing wire bundles where a stiffer tie is required, as in switchboards, motors, etc. | B- | ICO Standard MW Finish-A micro-crystalline wax with melting point above 55ºC/130ºF and non-flaking characteristics. It is compounded to develop excellent knot retention, yet not give a waxy feel to user. | |
| Fiberglass w/ Coated Teflon - |
a specially developed flat-braid of fiber- glass, coated with Teflon finish, designed for high temperature applications up to 260ºC/500ºF. Teflon is bonded to fiberglass to keep tape from fraying. |
C- | Special SR Finish - A special coating of fungi static synthetic rubber containing no corrosive compounding ingredients. It has best knot characteristics of all materials, along with good non-dusting or flaking properties. Being soft and pliable, it will not injure user's hands. | |
| E- | Special PVA Finish - Copolymer vinyl chloride acetate finish with a melting point above 175ºC/350ºF for use where a wax-free type or higher operating temperature is specified. | |||
